Caring extends beyond health care to encompass all aspects of community life. From health care, through eldercare and childcare, we recognize and anticipate the answers to your individual needs.

Healthcare

Chenango Memorial Hospital is a member of the United Health Services regional health care system, and is located in Norwich. A major renovation project was completed in 1990, costing $7.5 million making it a state of the art facility. CMH offers high quality comprehensive inpatient and outpatient medical services including 24-hour emergency room, critical care, surgical services, family-centered obstetrics and gynecology, oncology, cardiology, pediatrics, dentistry, radiology, respiratory therapy, and nutrition services. CMH also engages in ongoing community education and wellness programs and provides numerous support groups.

Bassett Healthcare is a network of primary and specialty care providers serving people in a ten-county region of Central New York. Primary and preventive health care services as well as specialty care for the whole family are provided at Bassett Healthcare-Nowich and Sherburne.

Central Diagnostic Imaging in Norwich provides the most advanced imaging modalities available, usually located in urban centers. Patients needing sophisticated exams such as MRI, arterial profiling and other vascular studies, as well as noninvasive angiography and endoscopy (virtual colonoscopy, bronchoscopy) can be seen without traveling outside of Chenango County.

Eldercare

There is a broad spectrum of modern skilled nursing facilities throughout the area that offers long-term care nursing facilities and adult residential care facilities. Seniors can choose from a Health Care Facility that specializes in around-the-clock nursing services in a family-oriented environment to an apartment that caters to senior citizens who want the independence, security and comforts of home without the many burdens of home ownership.

Childcare

From center-based childcare to home daycare providers, families will find the right option available for their specific needs. There are approximately thirteen nursery and preschool opportunities and seven Head Start centers. There are also many registered in-home day care providers. The Children's Center, a license center-based daycare facility, offers full-day and part-time childcare from infancy to twelve years of age. Another licensed day care facility, located at the Chase Campus Center in New Berlin, offers the option of intergenerational collaboration with Chase Nursing Home. The Chenango County Child Care Council can also assist you in locating and evaluating childcare options that best suit your needs.
